If you're just starting out don't forget the importance of reading help files and asking questions.
We're generally a friendly bunch and are willing to help.

Learn the 'help map'. It's a great way to locate the newbie academy, shops, smiths, and
other key points in the main town.

Unless you're a diehard don't start as a Mage build. It's a very expensive and inefficient
way to start. It's much easier to start as some form of fighter build and as you progress
where you can more easily gain exp and coins to start to shift over to a Mage build.

If you can find a player to teach you skills do it. You'll save massive amounts of experience
in the long run.

Don't be afraid to explore. Exploring is a great way to find new things and builds your knowledge
of the mud as a whole. Before you go out exploring just use most of your 'free' experience on
current skills. That way if you die your experience loss will be minimal and you won't lose any
levels or equipment.

If you find a good mine (mithril, adamantium, infernum) and you don't have the mining skill or
you do but it's just really low yet, ask someone else if they'll mine it for you and offer to
share it. If you mine it yourself you'll maybe get 1 or 2 weight ore. If someone with a high
mining skill does it they could get anywhere from 8 to 28 weight so you'll both benefit.

Don't forget to periodically check your equipment for wear. Nothing fun about finding a good
piece of equipment and having it break because you didn't repair it from time to time.

When there's a quest try to get in on it. Don't take the approach of I can't really help so
I just won't go. We don't care if you're not a help. We were all there at one point and
people helped us.
