Welcome to Aeonian Dreams

Character Creation

First Things First

Hopefully you have a client on which to connect to Aeonian Dreams. If not, click here for a list of popular MUD clients and where to download them from. The address to connect to us is: aeonian-dreams.net, port 4000. Once connected you're straight into the log in screen. Pick out your name, password, choose male or female and ... here we go.

Race Selection

You should see a race selection table, with the racial bonuses and weaknesses laid out. From this, make your decision and choose your race. Simple really. Or not. Choosing the right race for the character you want is pretty important. Of course you can have a fireball throwing Orc... but he will just never be as good as a Faery one. But that's pretty cool really, since some players enjoy the challenge of a harder build. Human's for instance get a bonus practice every third level gained, whereas Faeries get the ability to draw mana from other players and have a natural bonus to their mana regen. Check the racial attributes here if you want to pre-plan your character before creating on-line.

Templates

Choosing a character template is not a neccessity. Indeed, you may decide to go with none as your choice. However, they do give you the option of adding a bit of flavour to your character's heritage as well as giving you a couple of extra added abilities in most cases. For instance, choosing a fire template will give you the Fire Mastery as a skill. Be warned, though, that choosing a template means you recieve slightly less experience for doing the same things as a character without one. It is a very slight reduction, though.

Selection of Skills

So now the fun part, and the hardest to decide on. You get to choose what skills your character will start off with in the world. You will see that there is a total of 40 points to spend on skills, and skills are allocated a different 'cost' according to their use. Lore is a very useful skill to pick, since this is the equivalent of the 'identify' skill on many other MUDs. A craft is always useful to pick at this point, since it is a non-combat way of earning both money and questpoints to further your character development. If unsure of what goes best with what, check the wiki pages or just rush through creation and ask for help when entering. Our players are extremely friendly and only too willing to offer advice and help. Click here to see the kind of help you can expect if you aren't sure on just how you wish your character to start out its life.

Stats Adjustment

Next you get to adjust your stats according to the build you are creating. You get 15 points to play with. Stats can be raised in game via piece of equipment, spells and via training up. Training can be expensive, so pick your base stats carefully.

And that's it. Welcome to our world.
