Rules of Aeonian Dreams
From Aeonian Dreams
On Aeonian Dreams, you are allowed to do whatever you want as long as all people directly affected gives consent. You are allowed to PK (Player Kill) someone, if they agree to fight. You are allowed to speak to someone however you want, as long as they agree it is alright. You are allowed to steal another player's equipment and money, as long as they agree that it can be done.
However, there are some actions a player can take that will directly influence everyone and, because of this, must have an official ruling (these are the fundamental rules of Aeonian Dreams). There are also some default behaviours that must be established in order to protect the rights of new players, and allow them to get introduced to the game before they wish to follow these behaviours or not (these are the secondary rules of Aeonian Dreams).
The Most Fundamental Rules
- No multiplaying: Aeonian Dreams does not allow any multiplaying. You are a single person and are only allowed to control one persona (character) at a time. You may own more than one character, but only a single one can be logged on at any given time. If you own more than one character, they are never allowed to transfer anything between each other, even if another person's character, a booth, the ground, or any sort of intermediary holder or location is used.
- No bots: You may use scripts while away from the keyboard provided they give you no tangible gain. You may only use scripts that give any sort of tangible gain, such as spellups, auto-casting, skill scripts or any number of other tangible bonuses, provided you are actively playing. Actively playing does not constitute being at the keyboard every few minutes. It means that if you are using triggers or bots, they may only be used to assist you, not to play for you. You must be doing a large percentage of the work, and anyone caught abusing this rule will need to be punished. Minor infractions will be given warnings dependant upon the staff's discretion. Major infractions will be given one warning, at most. After that, a deletion will ensue, and if it happens again a ban for no less than 3 months. This rule is a bit harsh, but due to heavy abuse of the previous, more lenient botting rule it is currently necessary.
- Do not abuse bugs: If you are caught abusing a bug of any kind, and are doing it on purpose, you will be instantly deleted. Because we are a relatively new mud still undergoing development, there are many such bugs. Abusing them ruins the playing experience of everyone. Just don't do it.
- Don't be a spoiler: If you are going to tell another player about a secret in the game (e.g. the location of a secret trainer, the instructions to finish a quest, etc) do not tell them over any public channels. Some people like to figure these things out themselves. Have a bit of respect for those people, please.
The Secondary Rules of Aeonian Dreams
- No harrassment: Do not antagonize or harrass any other player for any reason. Not liking someone does not give you the right to make their life miserable! If you are caught harrassing anyone, you will be punished! Remember... this is a place to have fun. If you want to do something other than have fun, we suggest you leave. You can be exempt from this rule if the person you are harassing has agreed beforehand that he or she will allow themselves to be harassed. Harrassment is often the behaviour of what is known as a troll.
- No kill stealing: Kill stealing is defined as purposefully attacking a near death NPC that another player has weakened. Make sure you look around the room for other players before you choose to attack something. Make sure you are not about to start fighting something that somebody else already is fighting. If you notice a mobquest is going on, and you would like to try it, make sure you ask if anyone else is attempting it, first. Do not go and start the quest without asking if anyone else is already doing it! There are two exceptions to this rule: mobs that people camp on reboots are fair game to everyone, regardless of who has already attacked them, or is attacking them, as it is likely that all people had the INTENT to kill the mob as soon as the MUD was rebooted. The second exception is if the person you are stealing a kill from has agreed that it is allowable to try and steal the kill.
- No PKStealing/PStealing: You are not allowed to intentionally attack or steal from another player. The only exception to this is if both parties agree it is allowable.
These are not hard rules to follow. If you find that you cannot follow these rules, it is suggested that you leave Aeonian Dreams immediately, for if you do not, and you are caught breaking them, you may face such concequences as jail, reduction in experiences, statistics, skills, death, deletion, temporary banning, or permenant banning. The most likely outcome will be deletion, followed by permenant banning (both will occur at the same time for any single offense).
