Spears are weapons with a greatly extended range over that of normal melee tools. Spears are capable of fending an opponent to a short distance away due to their immense reach. Spears are one of the favored weapons of savage races, although many other warriors find them useful as well. Lances qualify as spears, however due to its cumbersome length it is necessary to be mounted to make full use of the weapon.
